‘Grandude’ McCartney writes new Children’s book (video)

Paul McCartney has written a new children's book, inspired by his own experiences as grandfather. It will be Paul's first picture book, after he has been written the children's adventure novel High in the Clouds in 2005.

The new book is called Hey Grandude! The title comes from one of McCartney's eight grandchildren, who gave the ex-Beatle this nickname. And that again gave him the idea to write a book about a grandude.

Sir Paul announced the release in a video message:

Hey Grandude! is an action-packed rollercoaster ride of a picture book that introduces a magical grandpa and his four grandchildren. It’s a heartwarming family story; a wild and wonderful adventure with a twist of magic.

The book is brought to life with funny, colorful illustrations from Kathryn Durst, a Canadian artist with a background in animation; she has interned with Pixar Animation Studios in addition to working on children's books.
Hey Grandude! will be released in September 2019.
