Release High In The Clouds set for 2022
Paul McCartney's animated film ‘High In The Clouds’ is expected to be released in 2022. This can be deduced from the Netflix website, where the film is now being announced. It is not yet clear if and when the film will be shown in the cinema.
Oscar nominee Timothy Reckhart (Head Over Heels) is on board to direct, while Jon Croker, known for his work on 'Paddington and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald', is in charge of penning the screenplay. The feature movie is based on the eponymous children’s adventure novel, written by McCartney and Philip Ardagh and published in October 2005. The book was illustrated by Geoff Dunbar, with whom Sir Paul collaborated on the animation films ‘Rupert and the Frog Song’ and ‘Tropical Island Hum’. The movie retains some of the book’s original woodland themes, but its storyline is a little bit different. The Netflix website gives a short description:
“An imaginative young squirrel leads a musical revolution to save his parents from a tyrannical leader.”
The film is in the works since 2013 and it will feature seven or eight new songs, that were recorded by Paul in 2015. On one of the tracks, Lady Gaga was involved, and also Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready took part in these recording sessions. Last year, the collaboration with Netflix was announced.
