Nile Rodgers invites Paul on stage

American songwriter/composer/guitarist Nile Rodgers has send an invitation to Paul McCartney to perform together later this month in Liverpool. Rodgers and his funk band Chic will headline the 15th Anniversary Year Opening Night Party of the prestigious Liverpool-based metropolitan music festival on October 26, 2017, in an extremely special performance at Echo Arena Liverpool. It’s the first time since 1979 Rodgers is playing Liverpool.

On Twitter Rodgers posted a message to Paul inviting him to share the stage. “I promise I know all your songs”, Rodgers added.

Although both men are old hands in the music business, they never collaborated together on stage. They do respect each other legacy. In 2014, for example, McCartney was caught enjoying himself during the Grammy Awards rehearsal by Daf Punk and Nile Rodgers performing their hit Get Lucky.

Unfortunately for the successful producer, the change to perform together that particular night is almost zero. McCartney is touring South America at the moment and will play Salvador, Brazil on October 20 and Mexico City on the 28th. A guest appearance in Liverpool in between these dates is therefor not very likely.
