McCartney Honors John Lennon On 77th Birthday
Sir Paul McCartney has honored his former Beatles bandmate John Lennon with a heartfelt post on social media on what would have been Lennon’s 77th birthday. On Twitter McCartney wrote he was “reaching out to Johnny on his birthday”, alongside a black and white photograph on which Paul is reaching across a studio mixing desk towards Lennon.
Ringo Starr also paid tribute with a photo of the pair in their Beatles days with the message: “They say it’s your birthday peace and love”.

Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, said in her Twitter post he was “still with us and giving us wisdom and happiness when it’s much needed”.

Lennon was shot dead outside his apartment in New York by Mark David Chapman in December 1980.
