McCartney Live: Ten Favorite Beatles Tracks
Since 1989's Get Back Tour, McCartney's setlist is dominated by songs by The Beatles. Here my ten favorite live Beatles tracks performed by McCartney, in no particular order:
I’ve just seen a face (Wings, 1976)
This track from the Beatles album Help! returned to the setlist a few years ago. But this version is by far my favorite.
Lady Madonna (Wings, 1976)
Lady Madonna is one of the Beatles tracks played by McCartney most often, with Wings he really nailed it.
Got to get you into my live (Wings, 1979)
Great version thanks to Wings’ horns section.
Getting Better (2002)
In 2002 McCartney started playing The Beatles ‘hidden gems’; this was the first one.
Helter Skelter (2005, Live8)
Sitting in front of the tv, I went completely nuts when, for the first time, I saw McCartney performing Helter Skelter at Live8.
I’ve got a feeling (2008)
The jam kind of ending makes this version extra special.
Mother Nature’s Son (2005)
I always loves Mother Nature’s Son, but the adition of Wix on accordeon makes the song even better.
Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End (Concert for Montserrat, 1979)
What makes this all-star band version of the Abbey Road-medley special, is the full orchestra conducted by George Martin.
For You Blue (Concert for George, 2002)
This one has always been one of my favorite songs by George Harrison. McCartney performing For You Blue was one of the many higlights of the Concert for George.
She’s Leaving Home (2004)
I’d never expected McCartney would play this one ever live. Great backing vocals by Rusty Anderson, Brian Ray and Abe Laboriel jr.
