1999: Working Classical

On this day, October 18, in 1999 McCartney released his third classical album, Working Classical, after The Liverpool Oratoria in 1991 and Standing Stone in 1997. The release contains a number of songs Paul wrote for his late wife Linda, who died a year earlier. Especially for the memorial service, new arrangements of these songs were made for string quartet and performed at two services in London and New York. Songs like Maybe I'm Amazed, Warm and Beautiful and Calico Skies are performed by the Loma Mar Quartet.

The album also contains five short classical pieces: A Leaf, Spiral and Tuesday, all performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. The other two, Haymakers and Midwife, are performed by the Loma Mar Quartet.
