Flaming Pie To Be Next in Paul McCartney's Archive Collection?
According to sources close to Paul McCartney’s company MPL, his solo album Flaming Pie will be the next installment of the Archive Collection. It is likely to appear before the end of this year, but an official announcement is expected at the earliest after the release of the Abbey Road 50th Anniversary Edition, which is on September 27th.
Earlier there were rumors that the last Wings albums London Town and Back To The Egg, whether or not simultaneously, would be the next releases. But these albums has been postponed according to the same sources; the reason for that delay is unclear.
The Paul McCartney Archive Collection started in 2010 with the re-release of the Wings classic Band On The Run. Since then, one or two albums from McCartney’s long career have been re-issued every year, with the exception of 2016, when the compilation album Pure McCartney came out instead.
Flaming Pie was released in 1997 and is regarded as one of McCartney's better albums since the break-up of Wings in the early 1980s. The album was produced by ELO front man and Traveling Wilbury Jeff Lynne, with whom McCartney previously collaborated on recording the 90s singles of The Beatles, Free As A Bird and Real Love. Flaming Pie was the first album McCartney made after the Beatles Anthology project and included collaborations with Ringo Starr and Steve Miller.
