New Beatles release: The Christmas Singles
The singles were originally flexi discs that were sent to the members of the official Beatles Fan Club in the UK and the US each year with Christmas. The first five were only playable on one side, the ones from 1968 and 1969 also had a B-side. In 1970, the seven singles appeared on a compilation album, which was also released exclusively for the fan club members. The seven together give a unique insight in the band's development from 1963 to 1969.
The singles contain spoken and musical messages from John, Paul, George and Ringo. A Christmas single, like Lennon and McCartney did solo, was never released by the band. However, a cover of Christmas Time (is here again) was recorded for the 1967 edition.
