New Beatles release: The Christmas Singles

The Beatles will release a box set with the seven Christmas singles they recorded between 1963 and 1969. It is a limited edition, with the seven singles on colored vinyl and a booklet. It’s the first time that the records get an official, public, release.

The singles were originally flexi discs that were sent to the members of the official Beatles Fan Club in the UK and the US each year with Christmas. The first five were only playable on one side, the ones  from 1968 and 1969 also had a B-side. In 1970, the seven singles appeared on a compilation album, which was also released exclusively for the fan club members. The seven together give a unique insight in the band's development from 1963 to 1969.

The singles contain spoken and musical messages from John, Paul, George and Ringo. A Christmas single, like Lennon and McCartney did solo, was never released by the band. However, a cover of Christmas Time (is here again) was recorded for the 1967 edition.

In the new box set the seven colored 7”singles are in sleeves with the original artwork and the booklet contains the fan club Christmas newsletters among others. The Limited Edition set will be released before the end of the year, an official announcement is expected this week.
These are the singles in the box set:

1963: The Beatles' Christmas Record
1964: Another Beatles Christmas Record
1965: The Beatles' Third Christmas Record
1966: Pantomime - Everywhere It's Christmas: The Beatles' Fourth Christmas Record
1967: Christmas Time (Is Here Again): The Beatles’ Fifth Christmas Record
1968: The Beatles' Sixth Christmas Record
1969: The Beatles' Seventh Christmas Record
